Beeswax Creek and Movie crew in Columbiana

Get out and drive is going to be a travel series about when you want to travel, but can’t really afford to go anywhere. Get out and drive has no destination, which makes it extremely fun!

My husband and I decided we wanted to go somewhere, but really do not have the money to do a far away travel, you know, like hop on  a plane and go somewhere exotic!

Beeswax Creek also has some nature trails you can walk, and to the right is where people would go fishing!

So we decided to drive through our City of Alabaster and drive towards Columbiana (about 25 minutes away).

Anywho, this town is sooo cute! As we were passing through we noticed what seemed to be a small film crew.. Hmmm interesting. We aren’t really sure what was going on there, but if you are from Columbiana, Alabama, don’t hesitate to let me know what was going on that day. I remember seeing a backdrop that said bloodtype. I have no idea what it meant, so what were they filming? Something to do with vampires? One can only hope!

We decided to keep driving about another 15 minutes through and found a cute park called Beeswax creek. This has what seems like a lake, but really it is a creek. It’s place for boating, fishing, and picnics! It’s a nice little free park. I saw a small swing set. They also have nature trails if you like walking! I even saw people riding seadoos! It makes me wish I had one. (sigh)

Anyway, this made for a pretty eventful day! So if you don’t have a lot money, but can spare a little gas, GET OUT AND DRIVE! You never know what you are going to stumbleupon.

    • Me too! I think it goes back to when my cousin and me would just drive around and listen to music! I just love riding around! I am still not sure what the film crew was up to, maybe I will find out in the future! 🙁

  1. This is a great post and it proves there’s a lot of cool stuff right in our backyard. I always felt a bit ashamed that I’ve been to more countries than states (in my home country). Not counting layovers lol. A 25 minute drive is not far at all. I usually fly to another country because it ends up being cheaper than to do a road trip and spend all that money on gas. Here in the Bay Area we have so many great things that are close drives too, like Yosemite, Muir Woods, Lake Tahoe. Thanks for the great travel inspo!

    • I think it helps that you are a flight attendant, I am sure it is cheaper for you to fly. If I could do that I would. I don’t think Alabama has a lot of places where people are lining up to do stuff, but we have museums and all kinds parks. I love driving around ever since I was a kid, just riding around and listening to music.
