Traveling around my state and neighborhood
I just wanted to update you all on what I have been doing lately. I have been mostly sticking around my neighborhood and surrounding areas! There is so much to do in your backyard, you just have to get out and find it!
Went to the @alabamawildlifecenter to drop off a thrasher with a beak that was wayyyy too long the other day. While we were there stopped to look at the birds of prey real quick. The one hawk was trying to get us through the window and then we realized there were eggs in there! The one was trying to protect while the other sat on the eggs!! _ _ _ Swipe to see the pictures of the hawks and the thrasher at the end. Make sure to stop at Alabama Wild Life Center if you are going to @oakmountainstatepark. There are a lot of things to do in the park as well. The wildlife center has different events you can go to where you can learn about the birds and where they bring them out. If you find a bird that is hurt or just something wrong with it, make sure to contact the @alabamawildlifecenter and see what they can do to help you. We had to catch the thrasher on our own and it took four of us and a little over an hour! It was well worth it! It does cost to get into oak mountain so be prepared with cash. #StumblingAroundTheWorld
Was able to sit in and watch behind the scenes this evening at Abc 33/40! Left: Brenda, John, and me, James, and Chris. Thanks Jo Paul for getting us in. And thank you @abc3340 crew for letting us sit in. It definitely was not boring and we thoroughly enjoyed watching. _ _ _ Have you ever met a celebrity while traveling?
Thanks Buck Creek for making me feel like I’m in the Amazon. Discovered a “new trail” at Buck Creek. Wasn’t new new but new to us and it I felt like I was in a true jungle. Get out and discover your back yard. We also saw an owl! First owl in the whole two years of living in Alabaster! Make sure to scroll through and see the roots! They are crazy cool. #chasagetsaround
Buck Creek you are looking good! There is so much to see at this park. I’m always so amazed how it is right in a neighborhood and there is a lot of animal activity that goes on. We saw a Yellow Crowned Night Heron and a BARRED OWL. SCROLL to see the pictures. They are not great as I took them with my phone through my binoculars. So when are you going to come and hike at Buck Creek? #chasagetsaround
Oh, sweet, Ebenezer Swamp! One of my other favorite places to go! We saw a venomous snake, a Barred Owl, a Prothonotary Warbler, and a Northern Parula, a hummingbird. I’ve never seen hummingbirds out in the wild. In my backyard is just not the same. _ _ _ Spring has appeared and it’s time for the animals to make their way out. Scroll to see the snake and a hit of the owl. What are your plans for today? I think this flower is a Swamp Leather Flower, but I’ll have to get back to you on that. #chasagetsaround
I hope you enjoy the pictures and let me know what kind of exploring you have been up to. Where do you live and what should I visit when coming to your area?
